First Phase of Cotton Cultivation Successfully Completed in Punjab

Secretary Agriculture Punjab, Iftikhar Ali Sahoo, announced that Punjab successfully completed the first phase of cotton cultivation. For the first time ever, the province launched an early cotton sowing campaign, resulting in promising initial outcomes.

He shared this update while leading a key meeting at Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture, Multan. The meeting focused on evaluating progress and planning next steps for the ongoing cotton campaign.

Early Cotton Sowing Campaign Yields Encouraging Results

Secretary Sahoo noted widespread appreciation for the early sowing initiative. Over 80% of the targeted area for early cotton planting is already complete. With ongoing momentum, the Agriculture Department expects to achieve its cotton sowing goal within the next two to three days.

This year, Punjab aims to cultivate cotton on more than 3.5 million acres of farmland. To help achieve this, the Chief Minister Punjab announced a special package of incentives, providing critical support to local farmers.

Second Phase of Cotton Cultivation to Continue until April 30

Secretary Agriculture Punjab stated the second phase of cotton planting will extend through April 30. He highlighted that both farmers and agriculture authorities remain dedicated to meeting cultivation goals.

The department continues careful monitoring to ensure farmers have reliable access to quality agricultural inputs, including seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides.
