Punjab officials recently held an important meeting to shape a wheat procurement plan, guided by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The goal? To make sure farmers get fair prices for their wheat crops.

The meeting brought together key players, including Punjab Agriculture Minister Syed Ashiq Kirmani and Special Assistant for Price Control Salma Butt. Representatives from the Pakistan Flour Mills Association (PFMA) joined in, along with top provincial leaders like Punjab Agriculture Secretary Iftikhar Ali Sahoo and Secretary Price Control and Commodities Management Muhammad Ajmal Bhatti.

The main focus was clear: work with the Flour Mills Association to create a strategy that buys wheat at competitive rates. This approach aims to put more money in farmers’ pockets while keeping the supply chain steady.

Agriculture Minister Kirmani shared the government’s promise to support farmers. “Following Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s directions, we’re doing everything we can to ensure farmers get fair pay for their wheat,” he said. His words reflect a strong commitment to the farming community across Punjab.

Special Assistant Salma Butt added another key point. She confirmed there would be no limits on moving wheat between provinces. “We want a smooth flow of wheat across regions to keep the market stable,” she explained. This step should help avoid shortages or price spikes.

This teamwork between the Punjab government and the Flour Mills Association is set to balance wheat prices and treat all parties fairly. As the wheat-buying season moves forward, everyone will be watching to see how this plan plays out.
