LAHORE, May 16, 2025: – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif spoke today at the Kalashah Kaku Rice Research Institute. She shared a plan to help farmers save money and grow more crops.
Here’s what CM announced:
- Kissan Card loans will go up from Rs 150,000 to Rs 300,000. That means farmers have more money for seeds, fertilizer, and tools.
- Farmers can get up to a 95% subsidy when they switch diesel or electric tube wells to solar power. This cuts their fuel and electricity bills.
- Next year, 20,000 green tractors will be sold at big discounts under the Green Tractor Scheme.
- Every tehsil will have a rental center for combine harvesters, seed drills, and rotavators at cost price. Farmers can rent modern gear without a big upfront expense.
- A new SMS helpline will let growers without a Kissan Card register and apply for support by text message.
CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif said, “We want every farmer to have the tools and money they need. Lower costs for loans, fuel, and power will keep Punjab’s farms healthy and our tables full.”
She also praised the Pakistan Army, Rangers, and Police for their work in Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos. She noted how unity helped the nation succeed, and she urged everyone to stay united.
Looking ahead, she expects cotton output to rise by 30 to 40 percent. That could mean about 6 million bales this year. She asked farmers to ignore rumors and assured them of full government help.
