Punjab’s Agriculture Department will start taking applications in August for Phase Two of the Green Tractor Scheme, officials confirmed at a review meeting on Wednesday.
Key Points
- 10 000 tractors, 50–65 HP: Each unit carries a Rs 500 000 subsidy.
- 10 000 tractors, 75 HP and above: Both local and imported models get a Rs 1 million subsidy.
- Application window: Opens first week of August across all districts.
Provincial Agriculture Minister Ashiq Kirmani, who chaired the session, said the goal is to cut machinery costs and raise crop yields ahead of the winter sowing season.
Support Hubs Near Completion
Officials reported that 98 percent of construction is finished on four Model Agriculture Malls. These centers will let farmers buy seed, fertilizer, and parts in one place. Ten more malls are planned for the next phase.
Boost for Young Graduates
Phase Two of the Agriculture Graduates Internship Program will recruit 2 000 interns in September, giving fresh degree holders field training and a monthly stipend.
Kirmani added that combined projects in tractors, malls, and internships “will modernize Punjab’s farms while opening doors for youth.”
Farmers can watch the department’s website for detailed guidelines and district-level help desks once the scheme launches.
