Lahore, May 24, 2025 – Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif today rolled out a three-year special incentive package aimed at converting Bahawalpur Division into Punjab’s premier “Cotton Valley.” Under this programme, cotton growers who commit at least 5 acres to the fibre crop will receive heavy subsidies on key farm gear, pumps and model-farm support to boost both yield and quality.

Key Subsidies for Cotton Farmers

  • Knap-sack Power Sprayers
    • 6,000 units at 50% subsidy, cutting pesticide-spraying costs in half.
  • Chisel Ploughs
    • 1,500 units at 50% subsidy, easing land preparation.
  • Water Pumps
    • Subsidy of ₨70,000 per pump, making irrigation more affordable.
  • Model Farm Establishment
    • 945 farms supported to showcase best planting and management practices.
  • Model Farm Support
    • ₨50,000 per farm for ongoing technical and input assistance.

These measures aim to boost per-acre cotton yields, improve fibre quality, and strengthen rural livelihoods. By pairing modern equipment with hands-on training, Punjab hopes to secure a steady cotton supply for local ginners and textile units.

Stay tuned for the official application launch, and watch for updates from the Punjab Agriculture Department on registration dates and procedures.
