The Punjab Agriculture Department is close to achieving its goal of promoting early cotton sowing across the province. The campaign, launched from February 15 to March 31, 2025, is part of the department’s strategy to increase cotton productivity significantly.
According to an Agriculture Department spokesperson, the introduction of three-gene cotton varieties, resistant to harmful pests like the pink bollworm, is yielding positive outcomes. Early cotton sowing in milder weather has helped farmers secure higher crop yields and profits.
Farmers adopting early cotton sowing enjoy several advantages:

- Lower irrigation needs due to optimal temperature conditions.
- Enhanced crop resilience against pests and monsoon damage.

The department aims to cover around 1 million acres through the early sowing campaign.
